The Akai X7000 boasts "High quality sound using 12-bit digital sampling technology" with a "built in front loading disk drive for 2.8-inch disks, permitting speedy data file saving and loading so you can create your own sound library." It has "random key splitting and assigning of a maximum of 6 sounds (expandable to 16 sounds using the ASK70 optional board). A maximum of 32 playing programs can be stored in the memory, providing limitless multisample power." The X7000 has an "LFO for applying vibrato to the sampled sounds" and a "programmable low-pass filter for making the sound milder. Furthermore, the low-pass filter effect can be varied according to the velocity, so natural dynamics can be achieved." There is an "audio trigger input [so that] playback of the sampled sound can be triggered using such audio signals as pulse sounds or percussion sounds." [Note: it also works as a great drum trigger interface. However it only works for one sample at a time.]
